Duke Vahn Rebono

This painting was done by the very talented Gabriele L. Berndt and appears here with her written permission. I picture Vahn as slightly longer in the face (he is eight feet tall, after all), with pure black eyes, and wearing a black jerkin under that manteau instead of the bare chest and amulet. I would have liked an image similar to this, just over the shoulder of the heroine, Keedrina, for the cover. I inquired about having Ms. Berndt do it, but she felt uncomfortable working for an American, since Americans have burned her before. My publisher didn't care what I wanted for the cover anyhow, so we see the lopsided suns-set where Vahn should have been. Please don't judge a book by its cover!
